Master Class – Ghostwriting with Margie Thomson
Auckland Writers Festival 21 May 2023
Thomson leads a class on this oddest of genres – the art of writing in the first person, in a voice that’s not your own. How do we capture a subject’s life in a way that lifts it off the page and into the hearts of readers? Margie’s many books have brought the stories of extraordinary people to wide audiences, including John Kirwan, Stan Walker and Ruby Tui. Explore interviewing/listening, voice and structure, and the necessity and magic of finding connection with people who may be very different to ourselves.
